The most prestigious historic event at Spa Francorchamps changed its name into F1 Historic & Spa Six Hours

The annual F1 Historic & Spa Six Hours event at the circuit Spa Francorchamps will be organized during the weekend of 25 – 27 September 2009.

The revised name clearly reflects the longing to bring to the fore one of the series internationally most enjoyed by the public. Only a few weeks after the modern F1 Grand Prix, it will be the turn of the older generation F1 cars to top the bill. A championship allowing all to appreciate the Formula 1 single seaters from the late sixties and seventies, powered by the legendary Cosworth DFV, a 3 litre V8 atmospheric engine.

The aficionados will be able to revel in the presence of  such names as McLaren, Lotus, Tyrrell, Brabham, Williams, March to name but a few, raced by a.o. James Hunt, Emerson Fittipaldi, Jackie Stewart, Graham Hill, Ronnie Peterson, Nelson Piquet, Keke Rosberg. And to see that these cars have retained their original livery, will make former times come to live again.

However the Spa Six Hours for the pre 1965 GT and Touring cars, scheduled on the Saturday late afternoon, still is the main programme. This weekend some 600 cars, 1000 drivers, and the very best of the Prototypes, GTs and Touring cars produced between 1920 and 1970 are scheduled to present themselves at this most prestigious circuit in the Belgian Ardennes.
