1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rosso was sold for over € 9,000,000 at the third-annual Ferrari Leggenda e Passione event

A review of this year’s auctions around the world reveals no signs of any economic crisis. But then again these collectors don’t buy their cars from their last money. Anyway at year’s end, I thought it might be appropriate to update the ranking of the Top 10 prices paid for cars sold at auctions worldwide.

It was Sotheby’s, which made history at the Ferrari factory in Maranello this year as a 1957  Ferrari 250 Testa Rosso was sold for over € 9,000,000 at the third-annual Farrari Leggenda e Passione event and making it the most expensive motor car ever to be sold at auction.

The historical significance of this car attracted collectors from around the world in order to secure one of the most iconic of all Ferrari racing cars.

 Technical spec of the 1957 Ferrari Testa Rosso: Type 128 LM V-12 engine, 2,953 cc with single overhead camshaft, six Weber carburettors, producing 300 bhp at 7,200 rpm, four-speed manual gearbox, front suspension with unequal A-arms, coil springs, Houdaille hydraulic shock absorbers and anti roll bar, rear suspension, live axle, semi elliptic leaf springs, Houdaille shock absorbers with four trailing, drum brakes all around.
