F.I.S.C. will be entering already its 17th consecutive motor racing season, but this year will be exceptional in a sense that this will be the first year offering a track day service.

The thought behind this development is quite obvious, although F.I.S.C. will be the first European historic & classic motor racing series offering such service to its customers.

Pieter Bakker, founder and organizer of the series said: “It is odd, that we never thought of it before, but a track day really is a nice and relaxed way to start the new racing season. A fine opportunity to meet up again with friends and families, whom you have not seen over winter time. But probably even more important is the opportunity to meet up with new friends, have a chat and introduce them to the convivial ambiance of the F.I.S.C. Legendary Circuits Series. Hopefully people will decide to stay and enjoy the excellent choice of legendary circuits we have got on offer in 2010.”

Although the series originally started as a one make historic racing series, the economic recession forced the series to open up for historic and classic cars w/o any make or model preference. Later period cars fitting the ambiance of the grid are also welcome.

What makes this series stand out in the crowd is that this series is based on speed rather than engine capacity. Although based on cars under 2L, bigger cars complementing the grid, are invited. A guarantee to a competitive and enjoyable weekend. Under circumstances a mildly tuned Jaguar E-Type would be accepted, but a lightweight would definitely ruin the competition and would therefore not be accepted.

A further guarantee to a competitive weekend is the use of historic racing tyres. F.I.S.C. appreciates the cars to be on historic racing tyres, either Dunlop Vintage, Avon CR6ZZ or alternatively fully treaded regular road tyres 70 section on steel or aluminium rims. Where possible, the use of original spoke wheels is encouraged, but it is also recognized that as a result competitors will be losing speed.  This will be compensated for in a way that competitors are invited to race in a more competitive class i.e. an MGB on spokes could easily be invited to join 1,650 class as a result.

Pieter Bakker said; “It is a pity that many historic cars can be found on modern rubber nowadays, not reflecting period at all.  However, we recognize the fact that not everybody will be changing wheels or buy different tyres for each and every series they – occasionally – join. To offer an acceptable and fair solution to all, we therefore decided to accept all tyres as from 2010, but upgrade the modern tyre users to a quicker class in order to level performance.”

F.I.S.C.‘s innovative attitude will surely bring them new friends.
