Motor Racing Legends at Le Mans

Other Motor Racing Legends are the Hawaïan Tropic Girls, who have become an enjoyable tradition at Le Mans.
Motor Racing Legends is the name behind three highly prestigious historic motor racing series; the Royal Automobile Club Woodcote Trophy, the Stirling Moss Trophy and the Motor Racing Legends Pre-War Sports Car Series.
But Motor Racing Legends is perhaps best known for organising the 45-minute Group C/GTP historic support race at the Le Mans 24 Hours, called the Le Mans Legend.
This year the race will be held on Saturday morning 12 June 2010, just a few hours before the start of the world-famous modern 24H endurance race. The Le Mans Legend is a serious race – not a parade – for cars from a given era in Le Mans history, with classes based on engine size and age of the car, resulting in battles for race awards right through the field.
In 2009, Le Mans-type cars from the era 1949 to 1965 returned to their spiritual home to do battle on the 8.5-mile circuit, with the following results; 1st Carlos Monteverde (ES) on Ferrari 250LM, 2nd Justin Law (UK) on Lister Jaguar GT, 3rd Tony Dron (GB) on Ferrari 246S Dino, 4th Julian Bronson (GB) on Lister Costin and 5th Ewan McIntyre (SCO) on Lotus 15.
Each year, Motor Racing legends are working with the ACO to pick a different period of Le Mans history for the support race and for 2010, Motor Racing Legends, in partnership with Group C/GTP Racing, is putting together a grid of fabulous Group C cars.
Hence the crowds will see motor sports icons like the Silk Cut Jaguars, XJR, XJR5, XJR11 and XJR 16, Nissan R88C and RC90, Porsche 962, 962C and 962CK6, Sauber C9, Spice SE88C, SE88CL, SE88P, SE89 and SE90, Spice Chevrolet SP92, Tiga GT287, Cheetah and Gebhardt/ADA.
The Group C era was truly a golden one for the sport and it still engenders massive emotion from the crowds. Fans who came primarily to see the modern 24 Hours, still often feel, that the historic support race was a real highlight of the weekend.
