VSCC Vintage Speed Hill Climb

VSCC pre war machinery blasting up the hill at this year’s Prescott meeting.

The VSCC Prescott Speed Hill Climb is no doubt the gem in the crown of Vintage Sports Car Club summer-events. This year’s event, 7-8 August 2010, with over 250 pre-war sports and racing cars participating, raised the popularity of its annual Vintage Speed Weekend at Prescott to new heights.

The idyllic spot in Gloucestershire is steeped in nostalgia and it particularly comes alive during the VSCC’s weekend in August.  Prescott and the VSCC first joined forces in 1938 and, apart from now providing improved toilets and a restaurant that guarantees a tasty lunch, nothing much has changed.

Vintage car enthusiast flock in their thousands to enjoy watching a splendid selection of pre-war machinery tackle the hill, from cycle cars to ERA racing cars. Any ‘vintage car enthusiast’ is hard pressed not to find something of interest on or off track. The vintage car park in the ‘Orchard’ throws up hidden gems year after year and is also a stunning location where the public enjoys its picnics, socialize and entertain friends in idyllic surroundings.

VSCC Prescott enjoys a popular selection of trade stands and the Bugatti Trust Museum is open all weekend.

There are lots of spectacular, but safe locations,  to watch the host of vintage machinery rush past your very nose on their way through Orchard, Pardon, The Esses, through the woods and then via Rolt Corner to the finish.

This year’s field consisted of 50 pre-war marques, totaling over 250 cars and split into 16 classes, a wide representation of the pre-war era from the amenable Austin 7’s to fierce single seater ERA’s and ‘vintage specials’.
