Cars and motorcycles will be ´raced´ four times over the weekend of l´Excellence de Reims.

The l’Excellence de Reims event will be visiting the legendary Gueux circuit (F) 10, 11 and 12 September. Due to its former success, l’Excellence de Reims attracted a treasure trove of some 190 cars and 90 motorbikes.

The most beautiful and authentic cars in the world will be gathered at the legendary Gueux circuit, a record that puts the Weekend of Excellence amongst the biggest European events for historic vehicles.

Famous names from the early days of the automobile history, will be rolled out of their privately owned museums.  Exceptional models, such as the famous BMW 328 MM of 1938, can be seen in action. The doyen of the Weekend of Excellence will be a Clément (Tourer) from 1901.

To list but a few other unique vehicles, one can expect to see the Jaussaud Matra F3 (1966), the Cooper Alta which, in the hands of Sir Stirling Moss, was raced in the Reims 1953 GP, the factory Porsche that was raced as a prototype in 67 with Rolf Stommelen, Hans Hermann and Jochen Neerspasch, the Ferrari 212 F1 GP which came second in the Syracuse Grand Prix in 1951, the Walther Röhrl Audi Quattro, a Lister Jaguar 1956 (the first Lister ever built), a Nomade MK1 that was raced in the ´12 Hours of Reims´ in 67, and the Chris Amon GP Tecno.

Cars are divided into the categories: F1, F2, F3, Endurance and Prototype, Silhouette and Rally. Each vehicle will be ‘raced’ four times over the weekend.

As for motorbikes, most of them still carry the DNA of the greatest champions like Giacomo Agostini and Phil Read. Impressive names will be demonstrated like the world famous MV Agusta, Norton Manx, Kawasaki H1, Yamaha YR3, Velocette, Ducati and Triumph.

After another year, the Gueux track will come to life again, as it has done in the past four years. The old pits complex, which has been rigorously renovated in order to provide the vehicles with a setting they so fully deserve, will accommodate a vast number of spectators, guests, traders, clubs and vehicles. A VIP village running alongside the track for as much as 120 metres will provide a chance to experience the race from its most exciting view point.

The event will be kicked off at the Domaine Pommery, with an inauguration dinner, which will take place in the privileged setting of Cellier Carnot, an Elisabethan style chateau in the heart of the city of Reims and built by Madame Pommery in 1868. This 250 acre estate, will welcome some 500 guests for the occasion, who will share a gastronomical dinner, served in the best tradition with Pommery and Taittinger champagnes.
