Lonville Classic
The 2nd Lonville Classic will be organized by the Lonville Watch Company in Lugano (CH) and surrounding area. The Lonville Classic, 3 – 5 September 2010, is about enjoying classic cars, good company and fine food on the shores of some of Europe’s most beautiful lakes i.e. Lago di Como, Lago Maggiore and Lago di Lugano.
Each day, the Lonville Classic starts and finishes in Lugano, inviting participants to enjoy the comfort of their stay in one and the same luxury hotel Villa Sassa. Hotel Villa Sassa has splendid views across Lugano and the lake and is located only a few minutes walk from the centre of Lugano. Organiser Joost Vreeswijk said: “What started as a small scale tour in 2007, turned into a full three day event with participants coming from six different countries, featuring a fantastic line-up of pre-war and post-war cars”.
All stages will make use of public roads, which will lead to old villages along winding lake-side roads and across breathtaking mountain tracks. In true Italian style, timed road stages are interrupted by far more important things in life, such as espresso, time consuming lunches, exquisite dinners and fine wines. Primary focus being a three day enjoyment of classic cars, fantastic scenery and a great ambiance.
With fairly stable weather conditions ahead, one can expect blue skies and sun accompanying the participants from the start in Lugano, over the mountains to Lago di Como, onto Lago di Maggiore and around the Lago di Lugano.
The event finishes with a car display on the main square in Lugano. The small scale of this event, the great ambiance, rivalry and humour, make it one of those unforgettable week-ends.
The Lonville Classic 2009 marked the re-introduction of the 136 year old Lonville watch brand, while the Lonville Classic 2010 will see the introduction of their latest Lonville ’Virage’ watch.
