Circuit Spa Francorchamps Track day Open Pitlane

spa_open_pitlaneAlready early this year the F.I.S.C. Legendary Circuits Series published a very favourable piece about the track day Open Pitlane at the circuit Spa Francorchamps, next year’s date being 20 March 2010. This event is being  jointly organized by Jan B. Lühn & Patrick Gassmann and Alain Defalle & Vincent Collard, whom we all know from their appreciated and high profile events Spa Summer Classic and the F1 Historic & Spa Six Hours  in September. Such was the tone of voice that we already suspected to find this event on the newly introduced F.I.S.C. Legendary Circuits race calendar 2010.

Arrival on the Friday afternoon in the Hostellerie Le Roannay, which is located on the Route de Spa 155. Coming from the highway you cannot miss it. Room rates for this occasion are a single room at € 99,- and double rooms at € 129,-. Prices include a grand buffet breakfast, which is really worthwhile. Secured parking for cars and trailers is available. A three course gourmand dinner is being offered at € 55,-. The house wine is a great Bordeaux, which everybody will apreciate.

The track day is an open pitlane event, meaning that drivers can go out on the track as they please. A very convenient way for testing your car, whether it be professional or hobby. As a result some serious pre-seasonal testing was underway in 2009 by different racing teams, amongst which Racing Team Holland with Jan Lammers and Hans Hugenholtz in their newly acquired Ford Mustangs.

Participants are welcome as from 08:30H, the track opens at 09:00H and can be used without interruption until 18:00Hours, except for the lunchbreak from 12:00-13:00H. During the day, every driver can use the track as long as he wishes. A great variety of cars is accepted, from vintage to historic, classic, young timer and modern road and competition cars. Of course the organizer reserves the right to refuse access to the track should a vehicle not provide the minimum safety standards. All road legal tyres are accepted. Slick tyres only if a suitable roll over protection is fitted. Important to know is that the noise restrictions are 105 dB, which is loud. Cars must have a towing eye, as different towing cars will be present. You will not find any track marshalls, but instead the monitoring TV system and warning lights will be on. As usual, the ambulance will be located near the track entry. The minimum requirements for the driver are to take his racing helmet and some racing gloves, which makes this event ideally suited for racing drivers and track day enthusiasts alike.
