Zandvoort Classic Trackday

Zandvoort Classic Trackday

The Zandvoort Classic Trackday, Saturday 30 July 2016,  will be the first of its kind to be organized in the Netherlands. For years now, 402 Automotive events is the organizer of the Zandvoort Oldtimer Festival, a one-day event fully focussing on the motor clubs, parts sales, club parades, circuit driving, classic car races. Visitors are invited to bring their classic car, which allows them to enter the event free of charge. These beauties are invited to park  in the classic car paddock, so all visitors can admire these beauties.

Last year saw the introduction of an added track day, giving the event somewhat more body. Moreover, drivers who were new to the Zandvoort track benefitted from the extra track time to gain experience. As there was no limit on the age of the participating track day cars, ther younger cars dominated the track day. And the older cars were reluctant to join in. Proprietors not feeling at ease with a fleet of BMW E30 and Caterhams around and at serious speeds.

This phenomenon introduced a rethink of the event and invited the organizer to concentrate their Zandvoort track day on classic cars only. And offer the possibility to allow modern cars in a separate private training session. Hopefully this will invite many more classic car owners to take their beauty to the track. Everyone can now enjoy the Zandvoort Oldtimer Festival in a somewhat more active and sportive way.

The Zandvoort Classic Trackday sees no race licence requirement. But don’t forget to bring your helmet [-s] and best wear long sleeves and pants [jeans] as a minimum safety protection measure against fire. Invited are Pre-war and classic cars, while the youngtimers can mingle with modern cars. Single seaters are not permitted, as well as monospace, family- and 3wheeler cars.
